    the handshake?
    max · 11/28/01 at 2:15 PM ET

I remember hearing somewhere that Erickson used a handshake to induce a trance in a subject. This interested me and I did a bit of research on it, but I can't seem to get it correct. This is what I do: I smile warmly when first seeing the client, then gradually switch to a blank look on my face and defocus my eyes while I shake hands with the client, and at the same time letting go of the clients hand very slowly. Should I give some sugestions while doing this to make it more effective or am I doing it completely wrong. Any advice is appreciated.
