If I had come through ten years of personal analysis, I wouldn't stop now. However, I have just finished my D/Phil after ten years of studying psychology, and I was looking into ways of obtaining practitioner training and qualification that would allow me to mix my academic research/teaching with practice in psychotherapy. I personally balked at the idea of 10 years + of thrice weekly personal analysis, so I didn't take that route; the financial burden alone is prohibitive. In other words, I sympathise that you may be losing faith, but I can understand the personal demands of such a route. Nevertheless, having come thus far, shouldn't you continue? After all, in such training, there must be considerable personal and practical investment which would be wasted, if discontinued.
