    Depression and sex
    Vincent · 04/05/01 at 6:47 PM ET

I am working with a client whose wife first came to me regarding relationship difficulties and what she believed was her husband's affair.
One piece of evidence that suggested an affair was that he arrived home one day with a semen stain on his pants.
His explanation was that he urinated, prepared to leave, felt he needed to urinate again and ejaculated with no stimulation and no erection.
At the time he didn't feel that he loved his wife anymore. From what both of them have described it sounds like he was depressed (this was several months before I saw either of them).
My question is this: If a man is depressed and has lost interest in sex, what happens to semen production? If it continues, how does the body deal with it? Is it possible that he is describing what really happened?
