    Good points, Michael! The features of verbal free association and written free association are quite different. We'd have to train ourselves to look for different cues. The nice advantage of written free association is that the record is VERY accurate, so the string of thoughts can be carefully tracked. Not so in verbal free association, unless one is using tape-recordings.
