Also interesting to me is the notion of making the interpretation (or non-interpretation) more difficult for the analyst. I can understand. I recall in my own beginning training the difficulty of remaining silent while my thoughts were racing. To have text in front of you which may be "screaming" for a reaction, in black & white, or to have the "silence", must be an additional challenge, especially if one decides to read through prior transcripts verbatim (rather than simply looking at conventional notes.) I know two of us have simultaneously concluded, otoh, that, to paraphrase Freud, *sometimes* a typo is just a typo! -Michael
