Art Tx in a Pediatric Medical Unit

I am a 1998 graduate of Allegheny of the Health Sciences with a Master's in Art Psychotherapy. I am presently aiding in the formulation of a pediatric medical art therapy program along with the driving support of the unit nursing supervisor. It is a big process, constant education of the medical staff as to the benefits of Art Therapy. The pediatric patients appear to be very open to the experience and seem to be better off as a result. Due the short term stay, goals are to recognize and fears or anxieties and then possibly alleviate through education. The art work allows the patient's a forum to put on paper what they can't in words.
