    Is it More a Matter of How We Deceive Ourselves

    Johanna---

    I can only say in a much simpler form than I have in the past, that your assessment of all of this is... very optimistic.

    I would think by any objective, dispassionate view, that this whole "craft" of psychotherapy has not really progressed very much-- but we have become masters in convincing ourselves that it really has come a long way (and we become beguiled by all the complexity we think we've found).

    Maybe it's just a moot point that I make- and that by itself would be sad.
