women & flirting

It used to be easy to tell that a girl was flirting; however, recently I've made a fool of myself for asking women out only to hear them say "no". This is after I thought they were flirting (eye contact, smiling, touching, etc.).

I'm starting to be attracted again to women but am finding it's easier to just say "screw it" because it seems as if I can't tell if someone's interested in me or not. Any hints?
