I am currently researching a a paper on the trend in developing a more conducive/cohesive work environment. This trend seems to follow many forms, but we are seeing many changes with regard to the physical environment of offices and management structures. I am referring to the concept of ripping down walls and barriers between employees and the attempt at developing an equal playing field for all employees and management levels. I have noticed more and more companies changing from offices and status bearing symbols such as doors, windows, and cushy chairs to open rooms with same sized cubicles or barren rooms filled with similiar desks and common areas. I am having a hard time finding information on this new trend and the premise behind it. I would also like to find out the affects both physically and psychologically on organizatiions and their personnel. Can anyone please give me some direction in where to find more information on this topic and the expected outcomnes of this trend, either psycholgically or physically? amanthae@aol.com
