Are you familiar with the Book "People Smarts" (Alessandra and O'Connor; published by Pfeiffer 1994). I find this a fun way to work with styles.

Pfeiffer published a Social Styles instrument in one of their "Annual" volumes back a few years ago. I have not been able to get my hands oon my file or the specific volume.
