Gervais: One root of Brief Therapy is hypnosis, which demonstrated that treatment could be accomplished in a short period of time. Subsequently, the concept of "hypnotherapy without trance" developed. Techniques from hypnosis were used without the necessity of formal trance. I suggest that you look into the work of Haley(Uncommon Therapy) and Lankton and Lankton (The Answer Within). If you explain more specifically what you are trying to accomplish, perhaps we can help.
