Dear Gervais, In The Letters of Milton H. Erickson, Jeff Zeig does a nice job presenting a brief historical overview of the importance of Erickson's work to psychotherapy, as a whole, while mentioning several schools of "brief" therapy. However, I would also suggest going to the writings of the "brief therapy" guru's themselves. Most credit the inluence of Erickson and his work early on in their writings. This is certainly the case with Haley, Madanes, O'Hanlon, DeShazer and other "brief therapists." These are probably the strongest "arguments proving the relation between brief psychotherapy and hypnosis" that I can think of. Hope this helps. Joe O'Rourke
