Alien abductions

I don't mean to trivialize this group, but I was cuious about the reports of alien abduction as related to hypnosis. It sure seems like the accounts of the abductions are stories which might have evolved in trance work, perhaps inadvertently by people who are highly suggestable to begin with. The trance might be self- directed unconsciously, perhaps?. I was wondering if anyone has looked at such cases from the viewpoint of exploring their hypnotic aspects versus trying to determine if they were "real". While I am at it, what about stigmata and other religious experiences, any research on their relationship to hypnosis? Thank you.
