The purpose of this forum:
This forum was established for professions with Masters and Doctorate Degrees in the fields of psychology, clinical social work, mental health counseling, psychiatry, medicine, and graduate students in these field enrolled regionally accredited programs to exchange and inquire about information that concerns the clinical work, approach, theories, and techniques created by Milton H. Erickson, MD. Dr. Erickson’s material is based upon five major areas: 1) his clinical work of more than 50 years; 2) his publications in refereed professional journals; 3) his life experience born from initially developing his approach as he generated a personal recovery from total bodily paralysis below the neck; 4) the clinical work, publications, research, seminar teachings, and trainings of those from professionals who studied with him for several years; and 5) the integration and extension of his work done by many committed professional students of his work in co-joining areas of psychiatry, mental health, and therapy.
Criteria for using this forum:
We invite postings and questions from professions with Masters and Doctorate Degrees in the fields of psychology, clinical social work, mental health counseling, psychiatry, medicine, and graduate students in these field enrolled regionally accredited programs. Erickson, MD or those which have been dervided from his work (eg., brief therapy, family therapy, therapy using hynosis, solution focussed therapy, etc.). Please use your name when posting.
This forum is not intended for non-professionals:
Other forums on the internet may be a better source for individuals not meeting the above criterion. This is in no way intended as a discount of their valuable ideas, contributions, or role in society. It is, instead, our desire to make the best use of our time responding to trained individuals with a background of knowledge in the mental health fields. This forum is not designed to debate the value of non-professionals in society, the value of psychotherapy, the credentials and contributions of Dr. Erickson or the leaders of the forum. Messages that are not in keeping with respectable conduct which attack or demean anyone posting comments, those which are hostile, sarcastic, seeking personal therapy, advertising, or otherwise outside of the scope of this forum will be deleted without comment to help keep focus for its intended audience.
Referrals for therapists using an “Ericksonian Approach”:
Referrals for competent therapists in this field should be handled at the Milton H. Erickson Foundation in Phoenix, AZ. 602-956-6196 or emailed to referrals@erickson-foundation.org.
