My doctoral dissertation was on application of Ericksonian language and metaphor patterns to the classroom. We tested changes in student responsiveness to no treatment (no change), telling stories (significant change) and telling metaphors with "Milton Model" language patterns, (off the charts change!). So these techniques do work. I would recommend David Gordon's Therapeutic Metaphors as a place to start. By the way, I have just convinced David Gordon to teach a seminar on Therapeutic Metaphor II which will be given in Florida at my training center. He has never before given this seminar. David is an amazing presenter and has presented at many of the Ericksonian conferences. If interested contact me at hypnosis4achange@aol.com
