Re:Erickson quote?

Yes, Erickson said something almost exactly to me. The quote actually was: "If a person has a retarded conscious mind, he has a retarded unconscious mind." The context was a teaching session during which someone had asked the (silly) question: "why don't you hypnotize a retarded person and make them normal?" That was Erickson's reply.

I suspect someone heard me tell that story and the words transmorgafied over the years to what you heard stated incorreclty.
