Internet Demographics-Africa

Hi everyone

I am a journalism 4 student at Rhodes University in Grahamstown, South Africa. I have just started a research project examining the demographics of those online, particularly in Africa. There seems to be this great divide between the Information rich and information poor and I would like to know how you guys think the Internet has contibuted to this phenomenon. Africa only constitutes 8% of the world's on-line users and of this 8%, the majority are white males. If anyone has some useful information I could use or useful commentary, it would be greatly used.
