Re:gender switching in chat / MUDs

Hi,

I am 14 years old and have gender switched in MUDS and various other places just to see if those who responded to me as a female (which I am) respond to my comments or behaviour any differently when I present as a same aged male.

There were some really significant differences and I was shocked by some of them. I did this as an experiment for a paper I was writing for my psychology class.

In chat, if somebody flames you as a female, more people come to your defence.

I get away with much more as a female than a male no matter where I go on the net. I even sent questions to male psychologists on this forum which allows you to ask various psychologists questions. Even when I posted the exact same question to the same psychologists, I got completely different responses when I asked as a female then a male.
