I see what you mean. I was thinking more broadly about written communication and the effects of not having people face-to-face. I've seen researches almost calling each other idiots in publication replies while paying almost no attention to each other's previous arguments; in meetings, however, they seemedo behave in a civilized way, shaking hands etc. I meant to say that indirect discussions share many basic qualities. It is intersting that querrels over written media in general can get so odd, once people have more time to think their reactions over, and to consider the arguments that are being raised, what does not happen in face-to-face situations.
