    Re:neutral responses

    You are quite right! We believe that we all test because we are trying to master trauma and traumatic experiences. Patients test to see if their therapist’s are going respond in a new manner. They are hoping that the therapist will display different behavior thus reassuring them that it might be safe to also try out a new behavior. We are not strong believers in the benefit of neutrality. As we are a case specific theory there may be situations where it could be important not to take a stand on an issue. I personally do no think there is such a thing as a neutral response. The absence of a response is in of itself a response as well!
