Conyers and Littleton can in part be explained by the continuing rise in magnesium deficiency, which has been steadily increasing since 1900 due to increased processing of foods, "purification" of water, and sales of Mg-depleting cola drinks. Magnesium deficiency reduces control of violent impulses, and often causes migraines, schizophrenia, and other mental disorders, as well as reduced longevity. A bibliography and medical journal abstracts are available at http://www.execpc.com/~cc/violenc.html About 5 years ago, at my insistence, Gov. Wilson of California ordered an investigation of this issue by the Cal. Dept. of Health Services, which created a 99 page "literature review" of published medical journal articles about magnesium-deficient water, but never released its earth-shaking study to the public. It showed that extensive evidence existed of this catastrophe, but concluded "more study needs to be done." Since then, the evidence has become even more overwhelming. According to the National Academy of Sciences (1997), magnesium deficiency is hitting the Black and Hispanic communities the hardest (heart disease) and increases the complications of sickle-cell disease. Magnesium-deficiency also lessens control of violent impulses and may lead to irrational violence such as Littleton and Conyers. The FDA/DOJ contributed to magnesium-deficiency by destroying the American mineral water industry in the 1930s, and have been covering up their blunder ever since. Neither the media nor the courts have been willing to address the issue. 300 pages of medical journal reprints about Mg-in-water are available at http://www.execpc.com/~magnesum Please study the Mg-deficiency catastrophe. That's a simple first step toward preventing more Conyers and Littletons. Sincerely, Paul Mason, Editor
On May 11, 1999, Federal Judge Jeremy Fogel ruled concerning the magnesium-deficient-water issue. Even though the FDA knew about the problem since 1977, and Judge Fogel suggested it may have caused more deaths than the Holocaust, nonetheless, Judge Fogel ruled that the agency has "absolute discretion", and his court will not intervene. He further ruled that this is not a genocide because the FDA didn't know about the problem until "recent years" (1977).
