Effects of death on children with developmental delay

I am a home support worker for IHC in New Zealand and >care for a child with severe developmental delay. The child has undergone >a considerable amount of trauma with the death of both his birth parents. I am a Home Support worker for IHC in New Zealand. I care for a child with severe developmental delay. The child has undergone a considerable amount of trauma with the death of both his birth parents. After seeing the behavioural effects on the child, I am wanting to see if there is anything documented on the correlation of trauma and developmental delay.
