    What behaviorism is not?
    by Jim Rowe, 10/2/98

As in the process of "shopping around" for graduate schools/programs for the Fall of 1999, I'm frequently told that the science of behavior is good some areas but lacks in many more. What does the science of behavior fail to address? Many seem quick to reject behaviorism, but are not so apt to state why. Is it fashionable to detest behaviorism?

I'm also told that behaviorism has done all that it could and now others still involved in this field are basically plagiarizing themselves. These comments have not yet curb my pursuit in behaviorism, but they have had me second guess a career in this field. Is one able to prosper in this field?

With the deadline for graduate applications fast approaching, I could used some advice as well as opinions on what behaviorism is and what behaviorism is not?

    Many Thanks!
