I have a chronically depressed person who some clinicians have thought to be Axis II. I also have a BPD patient who is constantly cutting. These foks are in the hospital more than they are out..I have concluded that the BPD willl not benefit from being sent for more therapy away from her surroundings, and I am not sure that any program out there will help the depressed patient either. We at the hospital are concerned that these folks are becoming dependent.... more than a concern actually. Anyone have experience with what to do with folks who are in the hospital more than they are out?? I am beginning to think that what they need is recreation therapy, rather than cogntive behavioral..Any suggestions in terms of treatments out of the ordinary, or journal articles that address this?? Maybe an outpatient program that focuses on things otherr than traditional DBT as these people can run the group...
