many patients/clients stop taking meds. or take a vacation from them because of their side effects, many no one would wish to tolerate, maybe even you. Many cause considerable weight gain, many cause fatigue, many cuase tremors, tongue and mouth sores, skin rashes and itching, etc. Not everyone will experience all of thes side effects, and I only listed a few. Careful titration of a new med to a patient prevents many side effects, and many clients/patients have great outcomes. There will always be those who will refuse to comply for various reasons, some prefer their own "self medication" (like drugs and alcohol) some may not want to take "these" kinds of meds cause it reinforces that they have a mental illness, and then their are others that doe so well with treatment that they feel they don't need them anymore, this often happens with Bipolars while they have been on Lithium, it works so well the patient feels cured and actually are but will always need to take the med to keep a blood level of the "miracle cure " :)
Some people come to a point that they can no longer afford the medications, and/or doc visits and fall through the cracks, another reason for noncompliance. There are many reason for noncompliance, you can relate by thinking of something you do not care for, or it's taste.
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figue your post out.
Lots of luck with this!
