Dear Jim: I only suggest you read the Irving Bieber literature as well as the advocacy literature as well as critiques of all the studies.Especially the "brain: studies which have all proved to be Contrary to what our profession is taught in graduate schoolsthere simply has been no body of research that has refuted the idea that male homosexuality has some(maybe all) roots in profound disturbances in the relationship of the young boy with both his mother and father. And even if society were to eliminate any form of discrimination, these young men, will still have to strugge with their uderlying depressions and sense of "being diferent" which they felt at a very, very early age in the first "society" they knew--their familiy. I would advise people to please read the avaliable research literature before going on attacks based more on emotion than reason. And because the APA "declares" something to be true does not make it so.It is merely a political organization and that is why more and more professionals are resigning from it's membership each year. If the rules of scientific exploration are abandoned, then all we have are mere subjecive opinions. Then,we should allow all citzen to vote every four years on whether or not they "think"something is a disorder or not.Who knows, maybe next year,Pedophila will be declared a nondisorder. Then maybe Depression and so on.It could prove interesting.
