    Very good points, and I have no interest in debating them.

    I do think there's a stronger predictive case than you're allowing between the biological effects of childrearing and things like postpartum depression and postpartum anorexia, in women disposed to those problems. However, my interest is just in making sure the woman's health is being considered in addition to the husband's desires, rather than to argue about predictive models of pathology.
