If you want to really expand your thinking about sexual possiblities even more, it would be worth asking why the HIV hyposthesis is now taken seriously by so many even while well informed and quite competent scientific critics of HIV theory are effectively silenced in a lot of public discourse on this subject and even while their criticisms are compelling enough that they should be more openly discussed. What we await is better public understanding of medical and scientific research itself even among a large number of health professionals. That so many persons act as if the HIV hypothesis is now a proven fact is an astonishing social phenomenon that has serious implications about the quality of scientific thinking and understanding among the public in general, and is a reflection of the very poor quality of science education today. It also has voluminous implications about the past, present, and future of sex in that so many are willing to close important debate on HIV before the debate even begins.
One may still decide to error on the side of caution and prudence and at least remain a theoretical agnostic as the debate continues. Nonetheless it is astonishing to realize that so many persons assume the debate is ended and HIV theory is now fact. Meanwhile the prsumption is that a "cure" for HIV is awaited. Not.
