Good point that it wasn't just Monica (the Other Monica) and Bill. I was saying just that the whole summer when that story was being aired nonstop. A friend of mine's 7 year-old actually asked her what oral sex was. I see this as the real damage to that whole incident: How it was handled by people in office, by the news media, and how it was received by families and how it presented children with questions they wouldn't be asking if the new vocabulary words weren't being repeated every hour. THe behavior of all involved brought us all down a few pegs.
