The APAs are hardly progressive groups--see, for example, the way they repudiated the extremely sound study by Rind on adult-child sexual contact.
That said, can you name a single professionally-done, peer-reviewed study proving that 1) homosexuals have a lower degree of mental health than heterosexuals, or 2) anyone's sexual orientation can be changed via therapy--and stay changed over time?
