peeping tom's

Can any one answer the question as to why someone who is handsome,extremely intelligent, and has the potential to do wonderful things with his life, choose to 'secret peep' on women? My husband, who I have now separated from, has this problem, and I do not understand!! I recently found out this 'peeping' started at least 10 years ago when he was arrested the first time. I found out about this problem after he was arrested for 'secret peeping' more recently. Any insight would be much appreciated.
