    Pyrophilia
    Marty Klein, Ph.D. · 12/22/02 at 3:46 ET

First, "pyrophilia" refers to sexual arousal from experiencing fire. It doesn't have to involve burning anyone.
Second, any therapist dealing with someone who claims this interest should investigate the possibility that the client is talking about fantasies.
Third, when dealing with a paraphilia that seems extreme or dangerous to others, consider other diagnoses such as borderline or bi-polar disorders.
Fourth, as a point of reference, in my 24 years as a sex therapist I've never had a single case of pyrophilia.
