husband acts out his fantasies of bandage

I have a husband who fantasises about bondage acts and has gone outside the marriage to fulfill this need. The wife has tried to fulfill ths need but has no interest in bondage at all, actually she abhors them. He has been lying and sneeking around for these acts for many years. The wife has no trust anymore, and is ready to give up on him altogether. She stays as she has very low self esteem, as he is main bread winner and two children. She is afraid to get to close to him emotionally for fear of getting hurt again and again as in the past when she has found out about his extra marital episodes. Why does he do this and why cannot she accept she is not enough for him?
