I was diagnosed with disthymia a little over three years ago. I take Zoloft (100mg) and see a therapist familiar and knowledgeable about disthymia about twice a month (Once a month when things are going swell in my life). I also attend Al-Anon. Even though I do all these things I still feel sad, sometimes very angry/hostile and worthless. I would really like to converse with other people now who have disthymia.
I do a lot of positive self-talk and that is where Al-Anon helps because of the slogans like "Take it Easy", "Keep It Simple, Silly" and many others. I am 36 and would like to talk to you more if you'd like to do the same. I am considering a depression support group, but that scares the hell out of me. Look forward to hearing from you.
