I am working with a new Online Startup called www.sharingVillage.com and we have been considering this legal issue of matching therapists with clients by state. Legally, online therapy sites may have no choice in the matter. My own state board (California) is taking the stance that therapy occurs in the state where the client resides, not the therapist. So what do you do if you don't have a therapist in that state or the client wants Joe therapist in another state. Our thoughts are that we don't do "online therapy" if there are different states involved. Guidance and advice giving or problem solving can take place anywhere with anyone. I know this is semantics but some would argue that nothing but face-to-face is really therapy anyway! Interested in others thoughts. Ron Huxley
