consciousness and application of motivation principles in small business

I'm doing research into the consciousness of and application of key motivational techniques by owner managers of small organisations (9-99 employees) in UK, can you help? Do you know anyone who is doing similar/same research in this area. I am a lecturer in organisaional behaviour/management in FE College in Scotland and would appreciate any information. Thank you.
