the original FIRO was written: Schutz W C: FIRO: A three-dimensional Theory of Interpersonal Behavior (1960) Holt, Reinhart & Winston and republished by Science and Behavior Books, Palo Alto CA as "The Interpersonal Underworld" in 1966.

That later text has all the background.

Also there are sections in the Pfeiffer and Jones Annual Handbooks for Group Facilitators (has more recent titles.

The FIRO B and FIRO F surveys should be available from Consulting Psychologists Press CA.
