Re: question: in whom can you confide?

From an organisational perspective, this is one of the most important questions to be asked; particularly for the novice manager. The question represents the reflective qualities that illustrate the successful senior manager at the begining of a path.

There are 2 dimensions to the question. The first is the notion of a paranoid/schizoid state. In this state the manager splits those around them into good and bad entities. This is a regressed state. The thinking on this subject is well informed by Melanie Kliens work on the Depressive Position. The second level or dimension to the question is to attempt to identify those members in the organisation that can function as a "container".

    Happy to discuss further.

    regards

    Michael
