    Researcher Openness and Judgment
Charlie Seashore · 8/30/98 at 2:13 PM ET

    Chris,

Great idea for study, particularly in collaboration with other members who can share their observations and experiences. However, in my opinion, it will be essential to approach this with more of a sense of inquiry than a prior judgment that this is a "symptom of pathology". Suggest you try inquiring via narrative inquiry, asking people to tell their stories, about themselves and about their peers in the workplace. Leaving the judgment about "pathology" open to their own interpretation may promote deeper disclosure than if it is coming from researchers. Who knows, you may find instances where it may increase some people's productivity or decrease their stress level and promote greater collegiality. Suggest you request open comments and contributions of stories from those who read our Board.

    Warm regards, Charlie Seashore
