To me it sounded more like the therapist intended to head off any burden that the client might feel from sensing a difference in the relationship. In my opinion, trying to head off a burden, with more burdens, is a foolish thing to do. Benjamin Franklin once said - “Our critics are our friends; they show us our faults.”
