Ira, Please understand that i was talking in general terms about parent fitness and children's welfare to illustrate the seriousness of downcoding presenting symptoms. I was not implying that you were either fit or unfit--I have no knowlege of that and so it is not my place to say. But do be aware of the limits of confidentiality. No doubt you have discussed this with your therapist already. And, yes, Adjustment Disorder IS a mental disorder diagnosis. It lacks some of the stigma of severe and persistent mental illness, but it is not properly given lightly. It will be on certain records permanently, such as those of your insurance company.
