It is also unethical for a psychotherapist to induce feelings of love into a client such that the client expresses that love for her or his therapist to friends, family, spouses, partners.
When a psychotherapist creates a situation with a client whereby the clients feelings of love for the therapist takes precedence over (and client expresses this to) friends, family and partners, this can cause a very destructive situation. For all.
When this happens, the psychotherapist has overstepped the boundaries of the therapeutic relationship and must terminate the therapeutic relationship. Before further harm is done. If the situation gets out of hand and damage has been done, it is the therapists ethical responsibility to correct the situation prior to the termination and attempt to fix what he or she has broken.
