    Re: International support

    Dear Brian
    I appreciate your posting.
It seems the St Johns List is down at present, so I attach a piece I
wrote to that List earlier this week. My hand to the dear folks in
NYC and to the international community as well.
I know you went a long way to get away from violence, Brian. It
seems the journey will be mostly inward.

Love to all my Gestalt colleagues,
    Oscar

    Time Suddenly Grown Older

    1. Arjuna, going into war, coming onto the field of battle, turns to
Krishna, and asks: "Why are we fighting? What is there to win?"

    >From the Mahabarata (Bhagavad Gita) - Hindu

In this experience it is said in the story that "time has grown
    older."

Yesterday, for all of us connected to the mass media anyway,
    time suddenly has grown older.

    2. Thank you, everyone, for your solidarity. Especially thank you,
Chris, for your story of how this happened for you, and your pupils.

Last evening was the first of a group cycle (10 sessions) for a group
of men who assaulted women (in Eganville Ontario.) The leadership
team was pretty shaken from the day and needed to address this
somehow. Yet the dozen clients from a rural Canadian backwater were
much less connected with these events. We decided to do a simple
round, asking each person (including leaders!) to say one or two words
to describe their feelings about this event. Thus we could mark this
event, we could keep from derailing the content of the program, and
men could use this as a first activity in learning to label and
    acknowledge their feelings.

Today we will take time in the staff group to begin to process
together, some of our own grief and fear.

To all, in grief and solidarity,

    Oscar
