    Gestalt Therapy and ADD
    Nancy J. · 11/05/03 at 1:32 PM ET

My son is 20 years old and has ADD. His transition to an adult has been difficult for both of us. Lost jobs, problems in college, auto accidents and tickets. I asked my therapist to recommend someone from her practice to counsel him. She recommended a Gestalt therapist. I have been doing some reading, but can't say I understand the Gestalt approach. Do you think the Gestalt approach is appropriate for a client with ADD? How do you see it helping him with distraction, disorganization, procrastination etc? Would a behavioral modification approach be more appropriate?
