    Re:Milton Erickson and Brief Therapy

Was the hypnosis used by Erickson ever known as "clinical hypnosis?" Could someone explain what "clinical hypnosis" is in comparison to the usual form of hypnosis where the client is put into and altared state of consciosness or a trance and is then given a suggestiong, i. e., to stop smoking.

I don't remember if I introduced myself. I'm a new graduate student and I'm doing a groups research project in my Brief Therapy class. I was trying to determine the beginning of Brief Therapy when I read the information about Erickson being one of the "founders."
