See my response to the next reply as well... You have taken one thing quite incorrectly from what I wanted to convey. Technique is the least interesting aspect of Erickson’s approach. It takes a back seat to the problem solving approach he fostered. If a therapist wants to maximize the paradigm or worldview used by Erickson, his techniques will definitely help to do this. But on the contrary, if one takes on his techniques, you will not in any way insure that you embrace or represent his approach to change (his approach to people, problems, and engagement for change). I will make this the theme of my keynote address at the International Congress in Phoenix this December. If you can attend you will be pleased with the clarification I will provide. That's a promise!
