The so called Drug Addiction cases of Erickson are not really addiction cases as addiction is defined by Narcotics Anonymous. Those were possibly physical addiction.
However, the most widely used method for the "containment" of addiction is the 12-step method named the Minnesota method, and its success rate is only 12%.
Anyway, if you come across a method that is effective more than 12%, then don't hesitate to inform us as I think that the founder of the new method will be the next candidate for the noble prize. Of course, erickson never had a clear cut method for drug addiction or alcoholism, as he was not the best Hypnotherapist of his age (this is just american shauvinism).
A. Dovzhenko (Russian) had a method (inspired by V. Bekhterev) for alcoholism.. it might be applied for drug addiction . . but I'm not sure.
