    Such a connection may bring uncessary baggage with it...moving toward deifying Erickson's work or secularizing Christ, etc. It might be more appropriate to simply observe that ALL large leaps (and maybe the small too) in understanding throughout history have hinged upon metaphorical or analogous cognitive stepping stones. The mind makes create leaps in a manner that we call metaphorical. This is true for Archimedes, Netwon, Einstein, Descartes, Bacon, Edison, Tesla, Christ, Buddha, Erickson, and John Doe, too.
