It is probably best to ask the Brief Therapy Center about that. I am under the impression that DeShazer did not study long with Dr. However, a lot of people speak of his work due to studying it from 3rd generation trainers, from a brief 3-5day visit, or from written material and afar. So this is not surprising (or even undesirable in many cases...witness the great work of William Matthews and others in this regard for instance). DeShazer's current work seems to me to bear little resemblance in practice to Dr. Erickson's although some of his principle of therapy have been similar in years past. So, I think the evolution, or change over time, has seen closer ties in the past and has now departed much more greatly. Please consider these my opinions and not those of Dr. Zeig or the Erickson Foundation.
