Healing the Divided Self is an excellent book and contains a nice section on ego-state therapy. I recently attended a conference with Daniel Brown and Cory Hammond in NYC and both of them are quite big on ego-state work. Specifically they work with it via ideomotor signalling, ie "is there are part of you that knows something else about this problem" etc. I found that in our dyad work it was very powerful: both me and my partner were quite surprised how new information arose via ideomotor signalling and working with "parts." I've since been using it more in my practice and find it wonderful for problem-solving and eliciting different perspectives.
